Engelbert Humperdinck and Ron Sexsmith Christmas single

Engelbert Humperdinck and Ron Sexsmith are to release a duet 'Something to Hold On To featuring a children's choir on 22 December 2014.

This is the perfect soundtrack for Christmas this year, a smooth evocation of all that makes this time of the year special for young and old. Taken from the 'Engelbert Calling' double album, 'Something To Hold On To is a deceptively simple yet alluring track with a charming and catchy refrain. 'Engelbert Calling' is the legend's 80th album and comes forty five years after his number one single and signature tune, 'Please Release Me'.

The pairing of Engelbert and the highly regarded Canadian singer / songwriter Ron Sexsmith has produced a track of simplicity and depth. Whilst Engelbert has received every accolade available in the entertainment world, Sexsmith too has an ever-burgeoning reputation, growing impact and a host of awards and high profile appearances to his name. Together, the combination is undoubtedly a winning formula.

The spirit of cooperation and mutual respect that can be heard in the vocal performances is in keeping with the whole feel of this lush track. With the lyrics urging 'peace and goodwill to all men' and reflecting the dreams of the world's children 'to wake up to a better day and a better day', there's a positivity and optimism about 'Something To Hold On To that will surely resonate with us all.

Featuring brand new recordings of classic tracks with some of the biggest and best voices on the planet, all handpicked by the legendary singer himself, 'Engelbert Calling' is an album that celebrates both an incredible career and all that is best in music. With guest stars including Sir Elton John, Smokey Robinson, Dionne Warwick, Willie Nelson, Lulu, Olivia Newton John, Sir Cliff Richard and even Gene Simmons, the album is a collection that confounds expectations, and then surpasses them! Between them the performers on 'Engelbert Calling' have sold over 1,500,000,000 albums [yes, that's one and a half billion]!

'Something to Hold On To is not only the perfect example of the strength in depth of the 'Engelbert Calling' album but also a wonderful way to usher in start of the Christmas season, and the end of the year, in considerable style.

Linda Ronstadt rare interview

Linda Ronstadt rare interview or Parkinson's disease

In August of 2013, Linda Ronstadt revealed to the world that she was suffering from Parkinson's Disease, a debilitating illness that robs its victims of muscle movement and control.

At that time, she said that she no longer can sing and, in a new interview with CBS, has elaborated, saying "It wouldn't sound like anything. I can't get to the note. I can't make any quality sound. I can't arrange pitch. I might aim for a note and hit another one. It sounds like shouting."

Ronstadt has been gathering numerous honors over the last year including her induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, whose ceremony she wasn't able to attend because of her illness, and the National Medal of the Arts, which was presented to her by President Obama earlier this year.

The fact that the illness has robbed her of the voice for which she is being honored is the ultimate irony. Over the course of her career, Ronstadt conquered the worlds of country, rock, pop, opera, Broadway and Mexican traditional music. The vast scope of her vocal talents were unprecedented in the music world.

Now, beyond her voice, the disease is robbing her of her quality of life. "It's hard to wash my hair, brush my teeth, and put my clothes on. It's hard to get up and out of a chair."

She went on to say that she still tries to walk around her neighborhood on a regular basis but is no longer able to make it down to her local beach in San Francisco.

To see the original broadcast piece and the raw video, go to CBS San Francisco.

Billy Idol: Social media stops

Billy Idol: Social media stops secrets

Billy Idol is glad there was no social media about when he dominated the charts.

The British punk rocker was one of the biggest names in music during the 80s and had worldwide success with songs such as White Wedding and Dancing with Myself.

Along with his showbiz lifestyle came plenty of drink, drugs and women - even though he had long term girlfriend Perri Lister

"She didn't really know about [the women]. Thank God there wasn't social media like there is now; it's ruined everything. You can't even buy crack on a side street without the papers knowing. Hopeless," Billy sighed to Q magazine.

Billy went on to battle drugs, with crack being his narcotic of choice. After a serious motorbike accident in 1990 he sunk further into addiction and collapsed four years later from an overdose.

However the 58-year-old hasn't touched crack for over a decade, kicking the habit in 2003.

"I had a great time, but it would be so wrong for me now. You wouldn't want to meet me if I'd stayed like that. You lose your teeth and everything," he said.

In recent years Billy has become a regular on the festival scene and released his seventh studio album Kings & Queens of the Underground last month. He also penned his own autobiography Dancing with Myself which came out in October too.

"When I was young there were no old stars. It was a footballer's lifespan and then playing working-men's clubs up North [in Britain]. Or in cabaret. So I'm just glad there's still enough people who like my music.

"[Being level headed] I think that's to do with coming out of the punks scene. It keeps you grounded because it was all about smashing the star system. I'm not some damaged article. I'm still vibrant. I've had a great life," he smiled.

Amy Poehler: Prince is

Amy Poehler: Prince is an angel

Amy Poehler thinks Prince is "magical".

The 43-year-old appeared on hit TV show Saturday Night Live for seven years, taking part in its various funny sketches and helping present. The iconic musician once appeared on the programme and Amy bumped into him backstage after a rehearsal, awkwardly asking him how his summer was.

"Prince is a magical being. It's really hard to make small talk with him," she smiled to British magazine Marie Claire. "I was standing next to my friend Amy, who was crying. She's a huge Prince fan. When Prince comes towards you it's really wild. He seemed like a beautiful angel."

Often joining the blonde star is her comedy partner in crime Tina Fey, who she will be hosting the Golden Globes with next year for the third and final time. Amy remembers how they met like it was yesterday and has nothing but respect for her close pal.

"It was a bit of an arranged marriage. We were both doing improv in Chicago and our teacher said we should be on the same team. I remember being instantly a fan," she recalled. "It was the small moments, walking to class, f**king around, eating at every diner in town; bush-eyebrowed and eating grilled cheese. Really preparing for Hollywood!"

Years on both women have reached A-list success, with Amy starring in popular programme Parks and Recreation. She's also released her book Yes Please, revealing there's a reason why she chose to pen the memoir when she did.

"I read a lot of books from a young person's perspective. Like, 'This is what the world means to me and this is what I want to do in the world,'" she explained. "And I read a lot of books about a person looking back on their life. But there aren't as many stories from people in the big, thick soup of it."

Rita Ora desperate for dog

Rita Ora wants a dog for Christmas.

The 23-year-old star has a life many can only dream of, with hits such as Black Widow and I Will Never Let You Down dominating the charts and a small role in the hotly-anticipated movie adaption of Fifty Shades of Grey.

While some might think there's nothing she could ask for this Christmas, Rita insists that's not true.

"Well, I don't have everything," she assured the British edition of OK! magazine. "I really want a dog, so let's see who listens to that. And I would really like to know how to set flowers, like go to a flower-arranging class..."

The star won't be making a festive meal, but that she is good at pretending she cooked.

And before she thinks of the holidays, there's the small matter of turning 24.

"Well, my birthday is November 26, so I'm thinking about my birthday first and then Christmas," she admitted.

"But I've already thought about my Christmas presents because they're pretty important. I can finally buy my parents something that they've always wanted. I can't wait to go home - I've missed them so much and I'm never home."

Fifty Shades of Grey is due for release in February next year and Rita is also working on her second album, with follows 2012's Ora. For now, she's focusing on her tracks rather than thinking about her next big-screen outing, although she does admit she has the "acting bug".

"People have been calling a lot [about film roles]," she revealed. "But my focus is the album - it comes out in January - and the single, which features somebody really exciting."
